CERIC at Trieste Next 23

Date
22.09.2023

Location
Trieste – Italy

CERIC will attend the 2023 edition of Trieste Next, the Festival of scientific research that will animate the heart of Trieste, Piazza Unità d’Italia, from the 22 to the 24 of September.

CERIC will be present, together with Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, in the large exhibition space curated by AREA Science Park. In particular, on Friday morning (09.00-13.00) the SAXS beamline research group (Sumea Klokic, Benedetta Marmiroli, Christian Morello, Barbara Sartori and Philipp Aldo Wieser) will present an activity, targeted to schools, entitled: And there was light! Lasers, microscopes and X-rays to analyse matter’. Starting from basic physical phenomena, such as diffraction, to more advanced analysis techniques, pupils will be involved (among microscopes, lasers, tools for creating a vacuum and software for reconstructing the conformation of objects and molecules) to a hands-on participation to shed light on the structure of matter.

As usual, Trieste Next will be a showcase for innovation and applied research where researchers and entrepreneurs present their experiences and tell how, thanks to the technological transfer of cutting-edge research, new solutions can be created.
This edition is entitled ‘A NEW WORLD. Science, culture and innovation for a sustainable future” and it is promoted by the Municipality of Trieste, the University of Trieste, ItalyPost, Area, OGS and SISSA.
